My name is Dawson and I am 25 (at least at the time of writing this), and I grew up around elevators. My father worked in the grain elevator for the majority of my life. Besides the grain elevator, I have a fasination with trains, they're kind of a package deal. I created this website in hopes of preserving the photos of old grain elevators and even new ones and some information about them.
Don Lamont was the original creator of the Vanishing Landmarks website, however in 2002 he passed away (his family notified me but did not give a cause). In between his passing and the date his website was lost, I was able to salvage most of the photos he had taken to help build this website. I had even submitted photos to his website before I became as talented as designer as I have today. ;-) Needless to say however that most of his photos are not high resolution.
In hopes of creating the largest library of grain elevator photos and history on the internet, I ask that if you have old photos of elevators, please do not hesitate to help and submit them to the site. After a quick review (to make sure they are of elevators and not some bot submitting porn or something rude like that), they will be posted along with any info you can supply with it.
If you don't have any photos but do have information on an elevator, or even town that we do not have yet, again, please do not hesitate to send us the information to make this website an even better place. You can also register and update the information yourself.
If you have any questions about the site, please don't hesitate to contact me at .
